The University of Michigan's football team had scored big with Class of 2017 recruit Aubrey Solomon, but a recent mailing to the Georgia high schooler led him to reopen his recruitment status.
"They sent my mom a card thanking us for going to the Michigan bbq, but we never went," Solomon told 247 Sports, noting that both his first and last name had been spelled wrong in the past. "It was just a little heartbreaking, for me to supposedly be so high on their list, for them to confuse me with someone else."
Solomon took to Twitter announce his decision, asking not only for recruiters to "get to know" him, but also for a chance to involve his mother in the decision. "My mom is a big, huge part because she knows me better than anyone," he told 247 Sports.
The 6-3 305 pound defensive tackle is ranked 5th in the country in his position for the Class of 2017 by 247 Sports. He will continue to consider Michigan along with Georgia, Alabama, USC, Clemson, and Florida.
