Six fraternity brothers have been charged with hazing following the April death of Michael Walker.
8 News reported that Walker, a freshman at Ferrum College, was unresponsive "after heavily drinking all that day [April 17]." He was taken to an area hospital and remained in critical condition before his death on April 25.

Two fraternity members are charged with providing alcohol to someone under the age of 21 and hazing. Four others are charged with the latter. All six are students at Ferrum College and members of the Sigma Alpha Kappa fraternity.
According to his obituary, Walker took a gap year before enrolling at Ferrum, hoping to pursue a degree in biology or environmental science. He was also a member of the soccer and cross country teams.
