This High School Graduate Shut Down Dress Code Stereotypes With Her Senior Quote

By Daphine Henderson - Jul 01 2017

Dress code has constantly been a controversial subject, especially in a high school environment. Many high schools, like West Milford High School in New Jersey, give their seniors the chance to have senior quotes alongside their pictures in the yearbook. One high school senior decided to tackle the controversy through means of her senior quote.

Victoria DiPaolo posted her senior quote on Twitter, which has received a lot of positive recognition. The quote reads: "I'm sorry, did my shoulders distract you from reading this quote?"

The tweet has over 1,500 likes and nearly 600 retweets.

"Basically I picked my quote to get a few laughs so I decided to tweet it. I never expected it to get so much attention," DiPaolo told Fresh U.

DiPaolo wasn't expecting her tweet to get so much attention, but believes she got a message across about unfair dress code rules. Many people on Twitter commended her post and for getting her thoughts out.

We are proud of Victoria for openly standing up against something she believed was unjust.
